The galvo amplifier is designed for laser scanning systems that are used for
entertainment, the card is compact and easy to fit with all major functions
used in a scanning head included on the PCB. The card can be supplied for
either 6800 or 6800HP at the time of order. The scanners are driven to full
Cambridge specification, because of the compact size the power supply
capacitance will not be sufficient if the card is to be used on the highest
performance systems. The protection against excess power dissipation is set
at a slightly lower level than recommended by the manufacturer. This makes
the card ideal for use in systems that are installed in night clubs and
other entertainment environments where long product life and reliability are
very important.
The board also has a shutter driver that can drive a GM20 actuator or a 12
volt solenoid. This has gain and offset adjustment for use with the GM20.
The servo output will drive a normal pulse position servo with four
positions being selected by a two bit binary code. The four positions are
adjustable by presets over the full servo range. A 5 volt supply is also
included to power the servo.
Each channel has an input gain control as well as image invert switch and
twist control. The twist adjustment allows each axis to be slightly rotated
individually to allow the image to be square to the projection screen,
removing any errors in the mounting of the scanners. A single transformer of
between 18-0-18 and 22-0-22 is all that is needed to power the board and all
internal electronics. The input signals are via a 15 way D series connector
that is directly compatible with the PM range of controllers. The servo
connects with a 3 pin .1” connector and the shutter output is a 2 pin .2”
pitch connect. Mounting is by two M6 clearance holes that are on 5 inch
spacing to fit most optic base plates.
