The card can be supplied for either 6800 or 6800HP at the time of order. The
scanners are driven to full Cambridge specification, with the protection
against excess power dissipation set at a slightly lower level than
recommended by the manufacturer. This makes the card ideal for use in
systems that are installed in night clubs and other entertainment
environments where long product life and reliability are very important.
An external power supply is needed to power the PCB, for best performance a
stabilized unit with low output impedance should be used.
The PCB is designed to be installed in a rack along with the other cards
needed for a professional scanning system. Chameleon Technology manufactures
a full range of G120,GM20 and other drive cards all on Euro size PCB’s. If
the board is to be used on its own then a small connector PCB is available
with push on connects for power and 9 way D series for the scanners.
Each channel has an input gain control as well as image invert switch and
twist control. The twist adjustment allows each axis to be slightly rotated
individually to allow the image to be square to the projection screen,
removing any errors in the mounting of the scanners.
The PCB has fuses fitted on the card in sockets so the fuses on the scanners
can be shorted out or increased allowing easy change in case of blowing. To
obtain the best performance the card must be set up as per the manufactures
recommendations.
Surface mount construction allows the two channels to be fitted on a PCB
that is similar in size to a single amplifier card supplied by most other
manufacturers
