G120 Galvo
Card

The X and Y amplifiers have a twist control allowing the image to be
slightly twisted to compensate for scanner mountings that a not exactly
orthogonal. this can be disabled if not required.
The card has overposition detect and protection, if the scan angle is greater
than 20 degrees then the output of the galvo drive will turned off. This
prevents the galvo being damaged if the power stage fails or during set up the
gain and damping controls are incorrectly adjusted causing oscillation. This
protection is intended for use when a system is installed into a permanent venue
; if the card is for hire use then it may be desirable to disable this function
to prevent the output shutting down at unintended times. When used in an
installation the output of the controller diving the card must be set so that
the card cannot be driven to the point that the protection will cut in.
CONNECTIONS
The power to the card comes from a centre tapped transformer with a maximum of
22-0-22 volt output. The two AC connections go to the two single winding
connections and the 0V goes to the twin winding connection. The connectors are
.25” push on crimp connectors ( use a shrouded type for prevention of accidental
shorts ). The 0V connection is common to the signal ground pin on the input
connector and may be used to ground the system. The two G120 connections are
standard 15 way D series as fitted to the galvo’s. The shutter output is via a 2
pin .2” Molex type connector supplied with the card. The silk screen ident. on
the board shows which is hot and ground. The connector for the servo should plug
straight into the card as supplied note that the white lead should be on the
same side as the ‘SIG’ label marked on the board.
The input connector should be wired as follows
1 signal ground 2 shutter 0v is off
3 Y + 4 Y-
5 X+ 6 X-
7 to SKT10 8 to SKT10
9 not used 10 not used
11 not used 12 servo A
13 servo B 14 not used
15 not used
If the X and Y inputs are not balanced ( single input connection for each) then
the jumpers on J1 (X) and J3 (Y) should be moved to short the pins (this also
shorts pins 4 and 6 on the D series to ground) and the inputs should use pins 3
and 5.
Use SW1 (X) and SW2 (Y) to get the scanning to appear the correct way round. As
standard the twist control is supplied disabled, to enable use jumpers J2 (X)
and J4 (Y) to short the pins. Changing between the two modes makes a slight
adjustment to the tuning of the card so select before setting up the card.
